Rick Steves' Tour: Venice, Florence, Rome
May 2 - 11, 2014
The day of the RS tour dawned - but not clear and sunny, alas. In fact, the day was stormy. But no worries, truly. Yes, this one day was not pleasant weather but it was only one day. And there was still so much to amuse myself with inside various attractions prior to meeting the group mid afternoon.
Since I was a solo traveler, I admit to feeling a wee bit apprehensive and shy. However, any fears and trepidation I may have felt was misplaced since the group was comprised of very nice, welcoming people - including one other solo traveler - and we had a wonderful guide: Alfio.
The days we spent in Venice were incredible. In addition to the depth of knowledge Sicilian Italian Alfio displayed, the tour was also augmented with fantastic local guides - for historical walks, Basilica San Marco, and Venice's Gallerie dell'Accademia . I had been to Venice twice before and loved my visits to these attractions. But how much better the experience was with these educated, amusing, personable professionals leading the way! Could not have imagined a better visit.
